Violet Mountain

The background displays a rich blue sky fading into violet at the horizon. There’s a full moon to the right and dotted stars scattered across the lower sky. Alongside the moon and stars stands a twin-peaked white mountain with streaks of violet cascading down each side of the peak. Below the mountain peaks, there’s a glimmering sea of deep blue, the violet sky reflected on it. Deep blue and vibrant violets of the sky and sea contrast the bright white mountain in the center of the painting.

Otherworldly colors suggest these mountains stand in a world unlike our own, the melting ice caps of the mountain revealing a plethora of shimmering purple gems. The ocean below reflects the magnificent sweeping sky above.

Like many of my paintings, this piece started with the sky background, by mixing my favorite colors and using a jagged bristled brush I created the intricate streaks mimicking moving clouds. From there, the mountain and ocean seemed to invent themselves although heavily inspired by some of my favorite fantasy series.
